|As we look ahead to the cultural delights of 2025, Silsden Town Hall is laying the groundwork with a packed and varied autumn-winter entertainment programme for 2024. From live music and stand-up comedy to thought-provoking talks, the season promises something for everyone.
Headliners such as Kiki Dee, Henry Blofeld, and The Noise Next Door are set to grace the stage, ensuring that Silsden will be a hub of entertainment in the months to come.

A season of variety and talent
The autumn season kicks off in grand style with the Silsden Festival of Ideas. This three-day event brings together nine captivating talks from some of the finest minds around. Returning by popular demand, Martin Lunn will delve into the intriguing world of Viking and Arabic Astronomy, while Neil Hanson promises a humorous account of his time managing Britain's highest pub. The talks will conclude with David Mason's exploration of Silsden's history through the lives of four distinct men, providing a unique perspective on the town’s past.
Henry Blofeld, the esteemed sports journalist and broadcaster, is set to share anecdotes from his storied career at the end of August. Known for his work on Test Match Special, Blofeld’s talk is sure to be as entertaining as it is enlightening, with plenty of stories that range far beyond the cricket pitch.
October will see the return of the legendary Grumbleweeds, accompanied by an eight-piece band for their show 'Bring on the 80’s', offering a nostalgic trip back to one of music’s most vibrant decades. Nikky Smedley, famous for her role as the yellow Teletubby, will lift the curtain on the whimsical world of children’s television in what promises to be a delightful and insightful session.
Comedy fans are in for a treat this season, with performances from Daliso Chaponda, The Noise Next Door, and Howard Walker. Each of these acts brings a different flavour to the stage, ensuring there’s plenty of laughter to warm the chilly autumn nights. As we move closer to the festive season, Silsden Town Hall will host a trio of Christmas shows including What the Dickens, The Snowman with the Bradford Concert Band, and a charming tribute to Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra.
Among the other highlights, chart-topping artist Kiki Dee and blues sensation Chantelle McGregor will make appearances, adding star power to a programme already brimming with talent. Local performers will also have their time in the spotlight, ensuring that the season is a true celebration of both global and local arts.
The historic heart of Silsden
Silsden Town Hall has long been a cornerstone of the community, a sentiment captured perfectly by Lord Hothfield when he laid the foundation stone in 1893.
"This building is not for this generation only but it is intended to go down future generations for the cultural enrichment of the community,"
he declared. More than 130 years later, that vision remains alive and well.
Today, the Town Hall continues to thrive as a centre for culture and community, hosting everything from world-class musical acts to thought-provoking lectures. The continued support from the community, particularly through the Friends of Silsden Town Hall, a registered charity, has been instrumental in maintaining the vibrancy of this historic venue. Every event, fitness class, and community gathering held here helps to ensure that the Town Hall will be around for generations to come.
