Residents from Ebor Court Care Home in York enjoyed a day of fresh air, beautiful views and classic fish and chips on a recent narrowboat adventure through the canals of Skipton.

Organised with support from local charity Richard’s Endeavour, the trip saw residents boarding the Spirit of the Endeavour, a fully accessible narrowboat that made it possible for everyone — including those using wheelchairs — to enjoy the calming countryside cruise.

Gliding through peaceful stretches of water, residents took in the lush scenery and spotted grazing wildlife before tucking into traditional fish and chips from local favourite Bizzie Lizzie’s, all while continuing their voyage.

Staff from Ebor Court, including Home Manager Yvonne Penrose, were on board to ensure the day was both safe and special.

“It’s a fantastic boat,” said Yvonne. “It proves you can do anything in life with the right adaptations. Our residents truly showed there are no bounds.”

The trip was filled with joy and laughter, and gave everyone on board a refreshing change of pace and a lasting memory.
