Castle Hill sits on the corner of the old hull to Hornsea railway line and holdeness drain. Branceholme (the boars' Holm or river islet) is a pasture between Sutton and wawne. A considerable portion of it was formally Marsh. In some early documents, it is styled a manner, and the Castle of Bransholme is frequently mentioned. The site of this castle is believed to be what is now called Castle Hill. There is a double moat surrounding a large Central Mound. It is a very interesting place to walk around. There are now some stone benches around it and an information board on the old railway track.
People are always helpful to finding where you need to be, great hospital
Go watch Hull history nerd on YouTube!! I've lived on Bransholme the majority of my life I've ran up and down its hills as a kid and take my children regularly but never actually knew it was old castle grounds or that there is a old burial ground either!
A great area for a walk, unfortunately you can't get to this area from the old castle hill road at the minute as they have blocked it off for construction (flood defence)
Very muddy but worth a look, earthworks with trees on top
