The first thing I noticed upon entering the hotel was the strong smell of bleach in the lift and most of the common areas in the hotel. Lightswitches looked a bit grubby with grey greasy grime on the sides of the switches. The bathroom was quite cramped and the bath needs resealing behind the bath taps as currently sealer has black mould on it. The room itself is very spacious and the bed is very comfortable. There are absolutely no drawers to put belongings in which is a missed opportunity with the space available in the room. That means a stay of more than a couple days out of a suitcase is difficult. There is free parking outside, but remember to register your vehicle on arrival at reception. We were welcomed by Adele on reception who was very polite and helpful. Adele was super efficient and greeted us with a smile and has a good sense of humour with plenty of respectful banter which we loved. I would stay here again but not for more than a couple of nights because I hate living out of a suitcase.
Travelodge only gets a 5 star because of their staff. The business management themselves need to pull their socks up, honestly what a joke you are and how you treat your guests. The staff welcomed me from day one, they were super friendly and treated me like family. I can't express enough how well the staff made my stay a pleasant one. Ps. Trudy, I passed.
Receptionist Adele was very nice and gave lots of local information and also had a sense of humour! Rooms were clean, food was good.
Clean, reasonable prices. Free parking. Good Food available at reasonable price though not a lot of variety, didn't have breakfast Staff very helpful, welcoming and friendly. Clean rooms comfy bed, free WiFi TV and rooms warm, nice place to stay.
Where to begin. Booked this as a one night trip to stay with my Partner to visit friends and family. Front door we were greeted with the smell of marijuana which lingered through the corridors and in the lift. Reached reception and was greeted by a very rushed and out of sort receptionist. Who gave no greeting but blurted out with “have you been here a while? Can you not see there’s a number im too busy to be sat here all night” me my partner and another guest looked at each other with bemusement. We had only just arrived. Got given our key and walked through the stained carpets to our room, once entered we got changed and headed to the bar spent £24 on two gins. Keep that in mind. Went out to see family etc came back late on. Entered the room where there was blood in the shower floor, holes in the bedding (every end) and no sign of staff anywhere and no answer to the number. Had to stay because we had no where else. After putting my registration through their tablet I was then days later charged with a £70 parking fine. Great. Complained to the hotel and received a £14 refund and a free breakfast for another stay. Will not be staying at any Travelodge again. So the £14 was basically not even returning what we spent in the bar. Where the staff didn’t even know what they were selling along with the stench of weed sifting through the place. Absolutely appalling. If anyone stays in Middlesbrough. Do not book this hotel.
