Wellness Club

A unique contrast therapy experience in Halifax

The Revive Wellness Club Halifax offers what is known as contrast therapy—a method of alternating between hot and cold treatments to promote health and performance. The club's facilities feature four ice baths and a 12-person Finnish sauna, with the entire setup designed to provide users with a holistic, rejuvenating experience. This type of therapy is rooted in historical practices but has recently seen a resurgence in popularity, thanks to its array of health benefits.

The club provides more than just the basics, offering a large relaxation lounge and a coffee bar to enhance the overall experience. It caters to individuals as well as groups, with options for private bookings for work teams or friends looking for a unique and shared wellness experience.

Benefits of contrast therapy

Contrast therapy, often referred to as hot and cold therapy, can be traced back to ancient healing traditions, but its benefits are increasingly recognised by modern wellness enthusiasts. Alternating between saunas and ice baths triggers physiological responses that improve cardiovascular health, boost athletic performance, and reduce stress. Regular use has also been linked to supporting the immune system, making it a well-rounded approach to enhancing both physical and mental well-being.

An expanding wellness community at Dean Clough

Revive is not just a standalone addition to Dean Clough. It joins a growing community of health, fitness, and beauty services at the site, which has developed into a wellness hub for both workers and visitors. Businesses such as the LuxeMe Aesthetics Clinic and Storeys by Dawn Walsh hair salon contribute to a comprehensive wellness offering, alongside other practices that include holistic therapies and specialised treatments such as women's health physiotherapy.

Statement from Revive's owner

Speaking on the launch, Terry Holt, franchise owner of Revive Wellness Club Halifax, expressed his enthusiasm for joining the Dean Clough community:

"We are delighted to launch Revive Wellness Club at Dean Clough as our first in the North. The venue is the perfect environment for a relaxing experience with stunning buildings and tranquil surroundings. We are well placed to provide stress-relieving therapy for more than 3,000 people working at Dean Clough as well as for people who visit for its incredible leisure appeal."

Holt also mentioned the club's membership options and private booking opportunities, offering flexibility for anyone looking to integrate the wellness benefits of contrast therapy into their routine.

Dean Clough: a destination for arts, leisure, and work

Dean Clough's transformation from a historic mill site into a vibrant business and cultural hub is well underway. Alongside health and wellness facilities like Revive, the site boasts a rich arts and cultural scene. With a theatre, six free-to-visit galleries featuring a permanent art collection, and a dedicated arts mill housing studios, Dean Clough is much more than a workspace.

An onsite hotel, retail outlets, and leisure attractions, including a home interiors store, jeweller, and florist, offer a complete destination for visitors. Whether you're visiting for work or leisure, the array of activities and services on offer provides a compelling reason to explore what Dean Clough has become.

Statement from Dean Clough's management

Jeremy Hall, Chairman and Managing Director at Dean Clough Ltd, shared his excitement at welcoming Revive to the site:

"We are delighted to welcome Revive Wellness Club to the Dean Clough family. It perfectly complements the broad range of therapeutic experiences we already have on site, not just for our vast working community but also for destination visitors."

Hall further noted the growing popularity of contrast therapy, recognising its potential for enhancing overall well-being, although he humorously added that he had yet to try the ice baths himself.

A thriving business community

Dean Clough is now home to approximately 150 businesses, employing over 3,000 people. The site, which spans 16 mill buildings covering three-quarters of a million square feet, offers a mix of Grade A office accommodation and flexible workspaces that retain the character of the original buildings. With spaces ranging from 50,000 square feet to smaller, unique units, Dean Clough caters to businesses of all sizes.

The site’s central location, just 15 minutes from the M62 motorway and with direct train links to Leeds, Manchester, York, and London, makes it an attractive option for businesses and visitors alike.

Historic roots and modern regeneration

The Crossley family, who founded Crossley Carpets in 1822, originally built the mill buildings between 1840 and 1870. At its height, the company was the world’s largest carpet manufacturer, but the decline of the textile industry led to the closure of the site in 1982. Dean Clough’s revival began when it was purchased for redevelopment, leading to a regeneration project that has seen millions invested in transforming it into a thriving business and cultural centre.

The redevelopment has turned Dean Clough into a significant hub within the Leeds City Region and the broader Yorkshire area. It’s now a beacon for successful regeneration, blending modern business amenities with the historic charm of the original mill buildings.

The launch of Revive Wellness Club Halifax at Dean Clough marks another milestone in the continued evolution of this iconic site. Offering contrast therapy—a growing trend in health and wellness—the club adds to the already impressive mix of services available at the destination. Whether for the 3,000 people working there or visitors drawn by its cultural and retail appeal, Dean Clough continues to cement its place as a standout destination in Halifax and beyond.

With its mix of wellness services, arts, and business facilities, Dean Clough is an example of successful regeneration, offering something for everyone. Whether it's contrast therapy at Revive or exploring the historic buildings, this Halifax landmark is thriving once again.
